This postcard features a photo of the McLean House parlor in Appomattox Court House National Historical Park in Virginia. It was in this parlor on April 9, 1865, that General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant. The following day, six general officers appointed by Grant and Lee met here to finalize the terms of surrender. The postcard was printed by Arpel Graphics in Santa Barbara, California.
