Back of PostcardThis Gordon Fraser postcard features St. Martin’s Church in Bladon, Oxfordshire, with a view towards the lych-gate. The church was rebuilt in 1802 on the site of a 12th-century church, and the Rector, Rev. Arthur Majendie, made significant contributions to its reconstruction in 1891. The highlight of the image is the grave of Sir Winston Churchill, a prominent historical figure, located to the left of the path leading to the lych-gate. The postcard captures the cultural and social significance of the church, as well as the historical value of Churchill’s final resting place. The photograph by David Cockroft adds to the visual appeal of this card, making it a valuable addition to any postcard collection.
