Back of PostcardWelcome to Grouseland, the historic home of William Henry Harrison, Governor of Indiana Territory from 1800-1812. Located in Vincennes, Indiana, this beautiful property is owned by the Francis Vigo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

One of the most intriguing features of Grouseland is the Dining Room, where visitors can see the famous bullet-hole in the shutter. Legend has it that this hole was made by an Indian who fired through the window, narrowly missing Governor Harrison as he carried his infant son, John Scott.

This postcard, featuring a photograph of the Dining Room at Grouseland, was taken and published by C. L. Bence of Mattoon, Illinois. It is part of the Dexter Press collection, based in West Nyack, New York.
