I recently received a postcard from a friend who is currently in Wellington City, New Zealand. The front of the postcard shows a view of the business area with high rise buildings and Willis Street, a main shopping area in the city. The message on the back of the postcard describes the friendly people and places in Wellington, although the sender notes that it is quite cold there. It seems like my friend is enjoying their time in Wellington, despite the chilly weather. They mention that they have been sightseeing for the past two days and even bought a souvenir frame since they didn’t have a camera to take pictures. The postcard was sent to me from the USS Cochrane in 1979, and it was printed by Whitcoulls Limited for the Felicity Card Co. Ltd.Receiving this postcard has made me nostalgic for the days when sending postcards was a common way to stay in touch with loved ones while traveling. It’s always nice to receive a physical memento from a friend’s adventures, and I can’t wait to hear more about my friend’s experiences in Wellington when they return. The postcard serves as a reminder of the importance of taking the time to connect with others, even from afar.
