This postcard showcases the Lavender Open-Pit Copper Mining Operation in Bisbee-Lowell, Arizona, which was owned by Phelps Dodge. The unique aspect of this operation is that the pit was being dug in the area where in 1953, U.S. Highway 80 was located, surrounded by business houses and homes of the two cities, Bisbee and Lowell.
