Back of PostcardThe Tryon Palace in New Bern, North Carolina, is the first permanent capitol of North Carolina. It was built by Royal Governor William Tryon between 1767-1770. The restoration of the palace took place from 1952-1959, funded by Mrs. James Edwin Latham and overseen by the Tryon Palace Commission, a State Agency.
