The postcard features an image of the Old Deserted Shot Tower in Dubuque, Iowa. The tower was built in 1856 on the Dubuque River front and stands 150 feet high with walls three feet thick at the base and twenty inches thick at the top. It was used to produce three tons of shot daily during the Civil War.
