The Adirondacks of New York is the largest wilderness area in the contiguous United States. It spans 6 million acres and consists of a mix of public and private lands that are home to a diverse range of wildlife, forests, streams, wetlands, and mountains that cannot be found anywhere else. The state-owned portion, which makes up 40% of the area, is protected by the “forever wild” provision of the state constitution. This postcard encourages visitors to only take photographs and leave only footprints.
